1) How is TUN/TAP supported on Windows? To be more specific a) Which versions of Windows support it? b) Is it installed automatically when OS is installed or we need to install any patch/FP? 2) I would like to write a program in C to creating a TUN and injecting IP packets to it.
May 01, 2019 Unable to install TAP-windows driver on Windows 10 so i Mar 17, 2017 #316 (Windows 8 issue: TUN/TAP adapter does not start tap-windows-9.21.0.exe tap-windows-9.9.2_3.exe . It's still unresolved. Only thing what helped me was solution provided by leifcr. Be aware that in such configuration TAP adapter in Windows 8 will be always on, wrongly if tunnel is not working. I've tested any other workaround. The other which is helpful is to open the Network and Share center vpn - Should I use tap or tun for openvpn? - Server Fault
